1.learn the words: mask, horse, chicken
（1）t: look. this is a mask. (show some masks)
blackboard： write ‘a(chǎn) mask’ on the blackboard, read and spell ‘mask’
t: this is a mask. and these are masks.
blackboard： masks read ‘a(chǎn) mask’ and ‘masks’ several times.
（2）t: what mask is it? (show a horse mask)
s: it’s a horse mask.
t: yes, this is a horse mask. now look at the picture (ppt show a horse) this is a horse.
blackboard： a horse read ‘a(chǎn) horse’ several times and spell it.
t: horses can run fast. let’s see how many horses? (ppt show some horse)
s1: nine horses.
blackboard： horses read ‘horses[iz]’ several times and spell it.
t: do you like horses?
s1: yes, i do. /no, i don’t.
blackboard: write down the new structures on the blackboard and read it together.
(3) s1: do you like horses?
t: no, i don’t. i like chickens.
write the word ‘chickens’ on the blackboard and read the words together.

ask students to practice the structure in pairs.

2. learn the words: pig, duck
(1) t: a horse is an animal. a chicken is an animal too. so they are animals. blackboard: write the word ‘a(chǎn)nimals’ on the blackboard and read together.
let’s play a guessing game. it is an animal. it’s big and fat. it has four legs, a big nose and a short tail, it likes sleeping. everyone likes to eat it. what is it? (guess) a pig
