1) introduce the background knowledge of the fossil in part a.
2) get the students to discuss what makes a successful people. write down the useful expressions they mention on the blackboard.

1) play the tape twice for the students to write down the years of each event. check their answers
2) get the ss to write a report about dr. hong in group of four.
4. reading
1) introduce the background knowledge of nelson mandela in part b.
2) let the students to read the article and answer the questions below then check the answers together.
3) have the ss find out the words and expressions describing the two persons. help the ss to understand what makes a successful people.
5. free talk
get the ss to talk about what they would like to be in the future and how they could realize their dream in group of four. then ask several ss to report their result.
6. homework
1) read the texts in this lesson three times at least.
2) finish the exercises about more practice in english weekly.
3) the better ss write a report of a successful person in his or her life.
4) get ready for the coming test.

一、 定位:說寫結合,以書面寫作為主要形式。
二、 教學目標
1、 指導學生學習描寫successful person’s stories.
2、 指導學生寫作成功人士的方法:先設計幾個問題進行采訪,然后將采訪的回答用第三人稱連貫起來,在必要的地方使用適當的連詞。末尾加上自己的感想或評價。
三、 教學環節
1. before writing
get the ss to think about some questions to interview a successful person.
the ss work in pairs to ask and answer, one of them acts as a successful person.
ask the ss what they want to be in the future how they can be successful.
2. writing
1) work in group of four, look at the picture and tell what the fashion designer is doing and what his experience may be. then work in pairs to match the answers with the questions.
2) read part b of the project develops the three parts of the interview into three paragraphs using the answers.
3) get some ss read their paragraphs to the class. praise them if they do a good job.
3. developing
1) ss read the instructions in writing and tell the class how to write about a successful person.
2) collect some useful vocabulary for describing jobs and persons.
3) ss write a composition about a successful person, using the interview at the beginning of this class, then share it in class.
4. summary
5. help the ss to summarize what they have learned in this unit:
