辨析：link (up) with，connect with 及 join (…to) 與 adjoin to link (up) with = connect with 與……相連接：通常“水域”相連用link (up) with，“車輛 (道路，交通)”相連用connect with join (…to) 指直接連接(兩個以上的東西) adjoin to 與……毗鄰 there the irrigation canal links up with the reservoir. 這條灌溉渠道在那兒與水庫連接起來。the trolley bus connects here with a bus for the airfield. 這輛無軌電車在這兒銜接去機場的公共汽車。the new highway has joined our commune to the city. 這條新高速公路把我們的公社與城市連接起來了。the cotton field adjoins to the rice field. 棉田與稻田相接。

(1) 也可以用take a hand in，意為“參與”“介入” “對…負責一部分責任”。如：① i had no hand in arranging the meeting. 我不負責安排這次會議。② i doubt john had a hand in this. 我懷疑約翰參與此事。③ this matter is in mr wilson's charge. i can't have a hand in it.這件事由威爾遜先生負責，我不能插手。④ tom has some difficulty in repairing his radio. let's take a hand in it.湯姆修收音機時碰到了困難，讓我們來幫他一下。
(2) hand是一個常用詞，可與很多動詞或介詞構成固定搭配，請記住下面一些常見的詞組。如：in hand在手里(邊)，在掌握 (控制) 中，在考慮中；in sb.’s hands或in the hands of sb. 在某人的支配 (照顧，監護) 之下；in good / safe hands在妥善的管理中；have one's hands full with無法分身；on hand出席的，隨時可用的。如：① don't worry -- all the arrangements are in hand. 別擔心，一切已安排就緒。② give them a call to let them know we've the matter in hand. 給他們去個電話，讓他們知道我們已處理了此事。③ there's no rush. we still have two days in hand before the deadline. 別急，截止日期以前我們還有兩天時間可用。④ it's all in jenny's hands now. 此事全歸詹妮負責。⑤ the whole affair is now in the hands of the police. 整個事情現已由警方處理。⑥ we left the project in the good hands 0f our manager. 我們把這個項目交給經理去妥善管理。⑦ the nurse will be on hand if you need her. 護士隨叫隨到。⑧ there was simply no cash on hand to meet the cost of food.只是手頭上沒有現錢來付飯錢。⑨ she had her hands full with new arrivals. 由于要照料這些新生，她忙得不可開交。⑩ he has his hands full with the children and finishing his work in time.他又要照顧孩子們，又要及時完成工作，忙得不可開交。
