1. there is/are + n.+ somewhere.
we use ‘there be’ to introduce new things.
e.g. ① there are 43 students in class 2, grade 7.
② there isn’t any homework to do today.
③ are there any books on the shelf? yes, there are.
2. the present continuous tense
we use the present continuous tense to talk about things
that are happening now.
i am (not) reading now.
she/he/it is (not)
you/we/they are (not)
am i reading now? yes,/no, i am./ am not.
is she/he/it she/he/it is./isn’t.
are you/we/they you/we/they are./aren’t.
3. personal pronouns (object form)
we use personal pronouns to replace nouns for people/things when it is clear who or what we are referring to.

ⅰ. warm-up (presentation)
ask the student on duty to give us a short report about the winter holiday or the spring festival.
ⅱ. listening
listen to the tape, answer my question, what does hobo want eddie to do? help the ss to answer.
listen again, ss read after the tape recorder, then do some true or false exercises. check the answers with the whole class.
