1. play the recording of part a for the students to listen to ,ask students to find the intonation of the sentences, ask students to repeat each sentence as they heard
then ask students to emphasize the rising voice at the end of each question and listen again.

1. ask students to read through the three contexts for the pronunciation of “-(e)s” and then play the tape for part b1.have students listen and imitate after it.
2. listening and speaking
the teacher reads some words ending with “-(e)s”, have students listen and distinguish how “-(e)s” is pronounced in each word, get students to repeat the word and speak out the pronunciation of the letters “-(e)s”. form the class into four small groups and have a competition. ask them to answer as quickly as possible.
3. play the tape for part b2,have students write down the sound that they have heard ,and play the tape again for them to check what they have written down .ask them to correct their words ,then ask some students to read out the words and tell what the letter“-(e)s” is pronounced in each word .
