▲此處host作動(dòng)詞用，意為“主辦”“作……的主人”“接待”。如: ① birmingham is hosting this year's trade fair.伯明翰將主辦今年的交易會(huì)。② which country is going to host the next world cup? 下屆世界杯由哪一個(gè)國(guó)家主辦? ③ the group was hosted by the ambassador. 這一群人受到了大使的款待。
【注】 host還有“作……的節(jié)目主持人”之意，一般用于非正式場(chǎng)合。如: ① she's now hosting her own show. 她正主持自己的節(jié)目。② mr smith has been hosting the show for two years. 史密斯先生主持該節(jié)目有兩年了。
【注】 host作名詞用時(shí)有“主人”“東道主”“主辦(單位、國(guó)家)”之意。如: ① apart from my host, i didn't know a single person there.除了主人外我誰(shuí)都不認(rèn)識(shí)。② barcelona was chosen to be the host of the 1992 olympic games.巴塞羅納被選為一九九二年奧運(yùn)會(huì)東道主城市。 ③ the host team and the guest team won each of the games, so they were even with each other. 主隊(duì)和客隊(duì)各贏一場(chǎng)，現(xiàn)在他們兩隊(duì)打平了。
【注】host作名詞時(shí)是指男主人，女主人用hostess，但hostess不能作動(dòng)詞用。如: my hostess greeted me with unexpected warmth. 我的女主人出乎意料地?zé)崆闅g迎我。
