▲ come out of意為“有……的結果”。如：① nothing came out of this talk.這次會議沒有產生任何結果。② well, what came out of your careful planning?喂，你那樣精心籌劃的結果怎樣? ③ no one can say what will come out of the discussion.誰也說不上討論會有什么結果。
【注】come out后接不同的介詞表示不同的意思。如come out with意為“說出來”“講出”“發表”。如： ① if you have anything in your mind, i want you to come out with it. 你要是有什么想法，我希望你說出來。② he came out with some funny ideas.他提出了一些可笑的想法。③ that year they came out with another article. 那一年他們又發表了一篇文章。
【注】come out意為“出版…出來”。如：① the magazine comes out once a month. 這本雜志每月出一期。② the truth has come out at last. 真相終于大白。
【注】 come out還有“開花”“褪色”“罷工”等意思，要根據句意來推測其確切的意思。如：① i think the roses will come out next week. 我想玫瑰下星期要開了。 ② will the color come out if the cloth is washed? 這布洗了會褪色嗎? ③ the dockers have come out on strike. 碼頭工人罷工了。④ how did the film come out? 這片子拍得怎樣?

▲ burn down意為“燒掉”“焚毀”，既可作及物動詞，也可作不及物動詞。如：① the school building was burned down in that big fire. 在那場大火中，學校大樓被燒毀。② the whole village was burned down bv the enemy. 整個村莊都被敵人燒毀了。③ the woodshed burnt down in half an hour. 小木屋半個小時就燒毀了。
【注】burn down所指的“燒毀”多是指將高大的物體燒毀，燒塌，而 burn up也有“燒掉”“燒毀”之意，其范圍比burn down要廣，既可指建筑物被燒毀，也可指其他的東西被燒毀，燒掉。如：① all his books were burnt up in the fire.他所有的書都在這場火災中被焚。② the fire burnt up mole than ￡500000 worth of antiques.這次大火燒毀了價值五十萬的古董。③ the house burned up before the firemen got there. 還沒等消防人員來到，那房子就燒毀了。
【注】請注意burn down。burn up burning與burn out的區別，后者意為 “燒完”“燒壞”“燒盡”。如：① the fire burned out for lack of fuel. 由于沒有燃料，火滅掉了。② her enthusiasm seems to have burned out. 她的熱情似乎已耗盡了。③ the poet's ability burnt itself out before he was thirty. 詩人的才能還不到三十歲就枯竭了。
