【注】也可以說aim to do sth. 即在aim后用不定式表示目的。如：① he aims to gain the nobel prize. 他的目標(biāo)是得到諾貝爾獎(jiǎng)金。② we aim to produce superior goods, not large quantities.我們的目標(biāo)是生產(chǎn)優(yōu)質(zhì)產(chǎn)品，而不是追求數(shù)量。③ the hunter aimed at the lion and fired, but missed him. 獵人對(duì)著獅子開了槍，但未擊中。 ④ the students picked up stones and aimed them at the policemen.學(xué)生們撿起一些石頭，沖著警察投去。⑤ in saying this, i'm not aiming at you. 我這話不是針對(duì)你說的。⑥ his speech was not only aimed at the older boys. 他的話不光是說給那些年齡較大的男孩子聽的。 ⑦ we all realized who that remark was aimed at. 我們心里都明白那句話是沖誰說的。
【注】aim at作“針對(duì)”解釋時(shí)，如主語是人，多用主動(dòng)語態(tài)，如主語是人所說的話，所作的評(píng)論等，則常用be aimed at，見上述例句 ⑤ ⑥ ⑦。

▲本句是用擬人化的手法賦予無生命的主語以人的動(dòng)作，以增加句子的表現(xiàn)力，類似的句子有: ① the year 1949 saw the founding of the people's republic of china.一九四九年見證了中華人民共和國的誕生。② his unselfish work is beginning to tell. 他無私的工作開始產(chǎn)生效果。③ her nervousness began to tell as soon as she entered the room.她一進(jìn)房間就表現(xiàn)出緊張不安。④ my watch says it is nine already. 我的表顯示已經(jīng)九點(diǎn)了。
▲series意為“連續(xù)” “系列”，單復(fù)數(shù)相同，常用a series of表示“系 列”。如: ① they carried out a series of expe- riment to test the new drug. 他們進(jìn)行了一系列試驗(yàn)試新藥。② the region has suffered from a series of natural disasters. 該地區(qū)遭受了一連串的自然災(zāi)害。③ she was invited to give a series of lectures on american politics.她被邀請(qǐng)就美國政治作系列講座。④ there has been a series of ear accidents at the crossing.在那個(gè)交叉路口已經(jīng)發(fā)生了一連串的車禍。
【注】a series of...之后要用名詞復(fù)數(shù)，但通常整個(gè)謂語用單數(shù)。a series of books has been translated into english 一系列書被譯成了英文。

▲ in honour of意思是“為向……表示敬意”“為紀(jì)念(慶祝)”也可以說in sb.'s honour。如: ① a memorial was built in honour of those who died for the country. 為紀(jì)念為國捐軀者建了一座紀(jì)念碑。② a holiday was declared in honour of the president's visit.為慶祝總統(tǒng)到來特宣布放假一日。③ mr mandela will attend an outdoor concert in his honour in the centre of paris. 尊敬的曼德拉先生將出席在巴黎中心舉辦的一場露天音樂會(huì)。④ the cere- mony was held in honour of the queen's birthday. 這慶典是為慶祝女王的生日而舉行的。⑤ a memorial meeting was held in his honour. 舉行了一個(gè)紀(jì)念他的集會(huì)。
