* range后接介詞over時表示“漫游…” “涉及”“包括”。如：①we ranged over the hills and valleys. 我們在山上和山谷中漫游。② our conversation ranged over many topics. 我們的談話涉及許多話題。
【注】range 作“漫游”解釋時，可作為及物動詞用。如：he spent the summer ranging the countryside. 他在鄉間漫游，度過了夏天。
▲ all the way意為“一直”“始終”，也可以用the whole way。如：① there being no bus, he had to walk all the way home. 沒有公共汽車，他不得不一直步行到家。② i'll support him all the way whatever happens. 不管發生什么事，我將始終支持他。③ the dog has been with me all the way. 這條狗一直跟著我。
▲ up to此處是與from連用的。up to單獨使用時有“直到”“至多”之 意。如：① it could be up to two years before the project is completed.可能需要兩年時間這項工程才能完成。② she was here up to a few minutes ago. 她直到數分鐘前還在這里。③ our minibus can hold up to eight people. 我們的小車能容納8人。④ up to now i've never met him. 一直到現在，我還沒見過他。
【注】up to有很多意思，常見的還有“忙于…”“由……決定、負責”。如：① what have you been up to all day while i've been busy? 我整天忙著的時候你在干什么? ② go and see what these girls are up to.去看看這些女孩子在干什么。③ it's up to you whether you decide t0 take the job. 要不要這份工作由你自己決定。④ it's up to you to break the news to him. 該由你把這消息告訴他。
【注】up to還可作“及得上”“可以與……相比較”解。如：① this new book of green's isn't up to his last. 格林的這本書不如上一本好。② he is not up to his father as a scholar. 作為學者他不如他父親。

(1) make + n. + n. 使…① in 1849, marx went to england and made london the base for his revolutionary work. 1849年馬克思到了英國，把倫敦作為從事革命工作的基地。② we made him monitor. 我們選他當班長。
▲ 注意：當表示獨一無二的職位名詞作賓補時，例如：president，chairman，manager等，名詞前不加冠詞。
(2) make + n. + adj. 使…they've made their hometown rich. 他們已使家鄉富有了。
(3) make + n. + do sth. 使某人做某事 the boss made him work 10 hours a day. 老板讓他每天工作10小時。
▲ 注意：此句型若變成被動語態，后面的動詞前要加“to”，構成“be made to do sth.”。he was made to work 10 hours a day.他被迫一天工作10小時。
(4) make + n. + 過去分詞she couldn't make herself heard. 別人聽不到她的話。
