▲sensitive可引申為“善解人意的”。如：he is very sensitive to his pupils' need for encouragement and knows when to praise them.他非常理解學(xué)生對(duì)鼓勵(lì)的需要，并知道何時(shí)表?yè)P(yáng)他們。
【注】另一個(gè)詞sensible和sensitive一樣都是形容詞，但意思不同。sensible意為“明智的”“合情合理的”。如：① she's very sensible about money.她在金錢(qián)方面是非常理智的。②why don't you do something sensible in your spare time?你為什么不在業(yè)余時(shí)間干些有意義的事情呢? ③ you are sensible to take his advice. 你聽(tīng)從他的勸告是明智的。

(1) keep可用于復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)，其賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)可以是介詞短語(yǔ)、現(xiàn)在分詞、過(guò)去分詞、形容詞、副詞等。如：① i'll keep the box in the shade. 我將把盒子保存在陰影處。 ② the bad cold kept him in bed for three days. 他得了重感冒，只得臥床三天。③i'm sorry to have kept you waiting. 對(duì)不起，讓你久等了。④ it's cold inside.let’s keep the fire burning. 屋里很冷，咱們讓爐子燒下去吧。⑤ don't keep the door closed all day long. 不要整天把門(mén)關(guān)著。⑥ she keeps the windows covered with curtains. 她總是把窗簾拉著。⑦sports and games help to keep people healthy. 體育活動(dòng)有助于健康。⑧ it's blowing hard.and i can hardly keep my eyes open.風(fēng)刮得很大，我簡(jiǎn)直睜不開(kāi)眼。⑨ we should keep the children away from the dangerous animals. 我們不能讓孩子們靠近那些危險(xiǎn)的動(dòng)物。⑩ there's a lot of air in loose snow, and this helps to keep the cold out. 松散的積雪里有大量空氣，這有利于御寒。
(2) keep表示“保存”“保管”。如：① how long can i keep this book? 這本書(shū)我可以借多久?(不能用borrow) ②will you keep these boxes for me while i'm away? 我不在時(shí)，請(qǐng)你替我保管這幾個(gè)箱子，行嗎? ③this building is about 100 years old, but it has been well kept. 這幢建筑有一百年左右的歷史了，迄今還保存完好。
(3) keep用作連系動(dòng)詞，后面接形容詞作表語(yǔ)。① i hope you're keeping well. 我希望你身體健康。② keep cool and listen to me. 冷靜點(diǎn)，聽(tīng)我說(shuō)。
(4) keep表示“養(yǎng)活”“飼養(yǎng)”。如：① mr ford has a big family to keep (= support). ford先生要養(yǎng)活一大家人。② his job is to keep pigs on a farm. 他的工作是在一個(gè)農(nóng)場(chǎng)上養(yǎng)豬。
注意：raise表示“從小養(yǎng)到大”，因此我們可以說(shuō)：① she was raised (=brought up) by her grandmother. (她是由她祖母帶大的。) ② he has three children to raise/keep/support. (他要撫養(yǎng)三個(gè)孩子。) 在下面句子中不能用raise: he has a wife and two children to keep/support. (他要養(yǎng)活妻子和兩個(gè)孩子。) 因?yàn)檫@里raise不適用于wife。
