(5) keep on doing sth. 表示“繼續(xù)做某事”“堅(jiān)持不懈地，不間斷地做某事”“反復(fù)地做某事”。go on doing sth. 有時(shí)也可表示這些意思。例如：①the farmers kept on working in the fields when it began to rain.下雨的時(shí)候，農(nóng)民們還不停地在地里勞動(dòng)。②don't give up，keep on trying. 不要半途而廢，要堅(jiān)持努力。③ don't keep (on) doing such silly things.不要老是做這樣的傻事。
▲ 注意：重復(fù)性較強(qiáng)的時(shí)候，多用keep doing (sth.)。 she kept coughing all night. 她整夜咳嗽。
▲ 注意：keep后面接行為動(dòng)詞，不能接sitting，standing，lying，sleeping等表示靜態(tài)的動(dòng)詞。如：不能說(shuō)he kept on sitting. 這時(shí)應(yīng)用keep。如：可以說(shuō)keep lying/standing/sitting there；
▲ keep和keep on后均不可接意識(shí)性動(dòng)詞如knowing，realizing，understanding等。
① there used to be a soldier at the gate to keep watch. 過(guò)去大門(mén)口通常有一士兵警戒。② they kept close watch on the child's health. 他們密切關(guān)注著孩子的健康。③ the police had to keep the crowd back. 警察只好擋住人群。④ she could hardly keep back her tears. 她忍不住哭了。⑤ once you get in touch with her, you should keep in touch with her. 一旦你與她取得聯(lián)系，你應(yīng)與她保持聯(lián)系。⑥ i'll keep my promise/word and come to help you. 我會(huì)信守諾言來(lái)幫助你。⑦ the rain kept on (= went on/lasted)several days. 雨一連下了好幾天。⑧ i hope the weather will keep up (= stay fine). 我希望這樣的天氣會(huì)持續(xù)下去。⑨ keep up your courage (= don't lose heart) and never give up. 鼓起勇氣，千萬(wàn)不要灰心。⑩ he could hardly keep up with the class though he often works deep into night. 他盡管常用功到深夜但仍很難跟上。⑪ keep off the door. it's wet painted. 別碰門(mén)，剛油漆過(guò)。⑫ shut the door and keep the cold out. 把門(mén)關(guān)上，不要讓寒風(fēng)進(jìn)來(lái)。⑬ keep out of trouble while i'm away. 我不在時(shí)別闖禍。
