▲break down是個(gè)常用詞組，我們?cè)诟叨蟽?cè)同步講解中已作過(guò)解釋，但此處break down作“分解”解。如： ① chemicals in the body break our food down into useful substances.人體里的化學(xué)元素把食物分解成有用的物質(zhì)。② the figures on living expenses must be broken down into food, shelter, education, medical bills and so on. 生活消費(fèi)的數(shù)字必須細(xì)分為食物類、住房類、教育類、醫(yī)療費(fèi)類等等。③ after many years, rocks broke down into dirt. 巖石經(jīng)年累月之后分化成塵土。
▲break down還有很多解釋，常見(jiàn)的有“(身體)垮了”“(計(jì)劃)失敗” “(精神)支持不住了”。如：① his health broke down because he had strained himself too much in his work. 他因工作勞累過(guò)度而把身體搞垮了。② marc broke down tearfully when she was told the death of her husband.瑪麗聽(tīng)到他丈夫的死時(shí)痛哭流涕。③ their plan has broken down.他們的計(jì)劃失敗了。
▲break down可作“(機(jī)器等)壞了”解。如：① then the car i was in broke down. 那時(shí)我乘坐的汽車壞了。②when the pumps broke down, they would repair them for us. 水泵壞了，他們就幫我們修。③ the washing machine seems to have broken down again. 洗衣機(jī)好像又壞了。
