teaching procedures:
step 1. revision
revise the comparative and superlative form of adjectives.
make the folloewing senences orally.
1. milllie is tall, sandy is taller than millie, amy is the tallest of the three.
2. millie is careful, sandy is more careful, amy is the most careful of the three.
step 2. presentation
like adjectives, adverbs can be used in comparative and superlative degrees where adjectives modify nouns and other adjectives, adverbs modify verbs, verb forms and adjectives.
we can form comparative and superlative adverbs in the same way as we do for comparative and superlative adjectives.go through the grammar table at the top of page 69. (remind the students that comparative / superlative adverbs are formed by –er / -est to the verbs or by writing “more” / “most” in front of the verbs. also remind the students that some adverbs are irregular, such as: well – better –best, badly –worse –worst, far –farther/further –farthest/furthest)
