step i brainstorm
ask the students to talk about friends.
t: everyone has friends. please say something about friends.
s1: old friends.
s2: new friends.
s3: a friend in need is a friend indeed.
s4: boy friend and girl friend.
s5: rich friends and poor friends
s6: forever friends.
t: no matter who you are, where you are, you always need forever friends.
step ii learn to sing the song
1. study the new words
as a class, read the lyrics for the song in the student book. explain the following expression:
no matter what / in___ more years / somewhere between / know for sure
2. read the lyrics
make sure all of the students understand the lyrics of the song. then help them to remember the lyrics. this song will help them to learn friends are always friends, rich or poor.
3. sing the song
for the first time, play the tape for the students to listen. then teach the first verse of the song, line by line. after they know the first verse, they should be able to follow along with the other verses.
4. practice
practice the song a few times with the tape. then ask the students to sing it together. at last ask some individuals to sing it.
step iii learn the grammar
1. explain the grammar to the students: future tense. show the structure on the powerpoint.

2. practice: ask the students to do ex 1 on page 72 in activity book to practice future tense. after dealing with ex 1, go on with ex 4.
step iv act ambitions (part one) out
ask the students to read the text ambitions (part one) and find the answers to the following questions.
show the following questions on the powerpoint.
1. what is peter’s ambition?
2. what is mike’s ambition?
3. what does krista think of mike’s ambition?
4. did krista tell mike her ambition?
students are given five minutes to discuss the questions in groups. five minutes later check the answers with the whole class.
suggested answers:
1. he wants to be a bus driver.
2. he wants to be very rich.
3. she doesn’t think mike’s ambition is a good one. she thinks a good ambition will improve things.
4. no, she didn’t.
after understanding the text, ask the students to work in groups and then act it out.

ask the students to work in pairs and talk about their future using the future tense. they may refer to the directions on page 45 in student book 3.
