教學過程設計:
i. lead-in
ask students to talk about the changes to kowloon walled city in hong kong.
ii. pre-task
1. ask them to listen to the tape in integrated skills again. to review what they have learnt about the changes to lantau island.
2. during the answers teacher can present some new words.
e.g. lantau island → island, hainan island.
teacher can ask them if they like these changes or not and the reasons. if they say “yes”, teacher can present “convenient”. if they say “no”, teacher can present “cause many problems”.
3. ask them to make sentences with “convenient” and “cause”.
三、while-task
task 1 ask them to read the report in chorus
task 2 ask them to work in pairs to find out the main idea of each paragraph.
task 3 show them some pictures about nanjing in the past and present. ask them to ask and answer in pairs according to the questions on p18.
task 5 teacher can write down some notes on the blackboard to help them.
