t: to my great joy, most of you are studying so hard. here “to one’s joy”means “what makes one happy”, that is to say，in chinese, “使某人高興的是……”, for another example, to his great joy, he has passed the examination. who can make a sentence with the phrase?
s6: to my great joy, i have such a teacher as you.
s7: to our joy, we have learnt not only how to study, but also how to be a man.
t: wonderful! i think once you work hard, you’ll achieve your dream. “achieve” here means “realize”, “achieve your dream” means that your dream will come true. we also can say “achieve one’s goal, achieve success...”
