【注】上述例句①－④均是表語從句，下面是這類名詞后的同位語從句，謂語動詞也用"should+動詞原形”或直接用動詞原形。⑤ they were faced with the demand that this tax (should) be abolished.他們面對著廢除這個稅的要求。⑥ they expressed the wish that she (should) accept the award. 他們表示希望她接受這筆獎金。⑦ what do you think of the proposal that we (should) put on a play at the english evening? 你覺得要我們在英語晚會上演一個劇的建議怎么樣? ⑧ the boss didn't accept the workers demand that their pay (should) be raised, so the strike went on.老板沒有接受工人們增加工資的要求，所以罷工仍在繼續。
★ the same...as... 意為“和……相同的”，在這個結構中，as為關系代詞，引導定語從句，在從句中，as可作主語、賓語或表語，作賓語時，as也不能省略。如：①this is the same person as we talked about yesterday. 這就是我們昨天談論過的那個人。② mary wears the same kind of glasses as helen does. 瑪麗戴著海倫常戴的那種眼鏡。③ you have the same opinion as i have. 你的觀點和我的觀點是一樣的。④ he gave the same answer as i did. 他給的答案和我的一樣。
【注】as還可以和such，so，as連用，構成定語從句。如：① they visited such places as they wanted to. 他們游覽了想要游覽的地方。② such books as you have ale sold out. 你有的那種書已賣完了。③ let's discuss only such questions as we are all interested in. 讓我們只討論我們感興趣的問題。④ i felt a weight at my heart such as i had never had before.我感到心中有一種從未有過的沉重。⑤ here is so heavy a stone as no one call remove.這里有一塊重得沒有人能移動的石頭。⑥ the picture was so beautiful as drew many people's attention.這幅畫太美了，吸引了很多人的注意力。⑦ have you ever seen such beautiful gold fish as i bought yesterday? 你可曾見過像我昨天買的一樣美的金魚嗎? ⑧ you will see as many children as come. 你將見到所有到來的孩子們。
【注】除了和上述the same，such，so等搭配引導定語從句外，as也可以引起定語從句，這時，關系代詞as常常代表主句的整個意思或部分意思。如：① he must be an asian, as we can see from his looks.他肯定是亞洲人，這一點我們可以從他的外表看出來。② the football game was very exciting, as we had expected. 正如我們所料，足球賽非常令人激動。③ as is known to all, china is a developing country. 眾所周知，中國是一個發展中國家。④ he didn't lose heart, as could be judged from his expression.他沒有失去信心，這從他的表情中可以看出。⑤ lincoln was killed in a theatre by an actor, as is described in this book. 正如這本書所描寫的，林肯是在一家劇院里被一個演員謀殺的。
【注】as作為關系代詞代表前面主句的意思，和which代表主句的意思很相似，但as有“正如”的涵義，而which沒有。
