beat=defeat 的賓語是人或隊伍, 表示“打敗……”;
win 的賓語不能是人,而是獎金,獎杯,比賽,戰爭等, 如win an award, win the competition。
5. 過去進行時
構成: was / were + doing 用法:過去某個時間正在進行或發生的動作
常與過去進行時連用的時間狀語:
at ten o’clock last night, then, this time yesterday, at that time,
from 8 to 9 last wednesday…
when,while?
過去進行時常與when, while引導的時間狀語從句連用, 意思是"當……之時"。
when后面既可跟延續性動詞,也可跟瞬間動詞,常用過去式
while后面一般跟延續性動詞,常用進行時;強調兩個動作同時發生,或表示對比時只能用while
the telephone rang when(while) i was taking a bath.
all the students were sleeping soundly when the fire broke out. (此句中不可以用while)
father was preparing a report while i was playing games.
