ⅱ.may的意思是可以、可能，在正式用語(yǔ)中它通常是指可能性或允許而言。如：
① that may or may not be ture. 那可能是真的，也可能不是真的。
② he may be right. 他可能是對(duì)的。
③ you may take this book, i don’t need it. 你可以拿走這本書(shū)，我不需要了。
④ may i go now? 我現(xiàn)在可以走了嗎？
§114 cap/ hat
ⅰ.cap的意思是帽子，通常指無(wú)邊的帽子，包括便帽、制服帽、軍帽等。如：
① he always wears a blue cap. 他總是戴著一頂藍(lán)帽子。
② how i wished i could have a cap, a real soldier’s cap! 我多么想要一頂帽子，一頂真正的軍帽！
ⅱ.hat的意思也是帽子，指有邊的帽子，也是帽子的總稱(chēng)。如：
① hat in hand , he came towards me. 他手拿著帽子，向我走來(lái)。
② these hats are in fashion. 這些帽子很時(shí)髦。
§115 care (about) / take care of/ care for
ⅰ.take care of“照料=look after,即指喂飯照看等。如：
① nurses take care of patients in hospital.
[注]：它還可表所負(fù)的責(zé)任，如：
① mr savage takes care of marketing and publicity. 薩維奇先生負(fù)責(zé)銷(xiāo)售和宣傳。
ⅱ.care about表你是否認(rèn)為某件事是重要的，某件事是否引起了你的興趣或使你憂(yōu)慮，常用于疑問(wèn)句或否定句中，后接從句時(shí)，about一般都要省略。如：
i don’t care whether it rains, i’m happy. 我才不在乎下不下雨呢，我快活著呢。
ⅲ.care for 有以下幾種意思
1）“照料”（特別是多用在正式的或較文的文體中）如：
she spent the best years of her life caring for her sick father. 她把一生中最好的歲月都用來(lái)照料她那有病的父親了。
2）“關(guān)懷”“關(guān)心”如：care for the younger generation 關(guān)懷年輕的一代
3）“喜歡、愿意”（多用在疑問(wèn)句或否定句中）[care for sb. to do sth.] 如：
① would you care for a cup of tea? 你喜歡喝一杯茶嗎？
② i don’t/shouldn’t care for him to read this letter. 我不愿讓他看這封信。
§116 carry on/ carry out/ carry through
ⅰ.carry on的意思是“進(jìn)行、繼續(xù)”，如：
① i tried to carry on a conversation in english, but could not. 我想用英語(yǔ)進(jìn)行談話(huà)，但是力不從心。
② he told them to carry on. 他叫他們繼續(xù)進(jìn)行。
③ carry on (with) your work. 繼續(xù)你的工作。
ⅱ.carry out的意思是“貫徹、執(zhí)行；完成、實(shí)現(xiàn)”，如：
① sometimes it’s easy to make plans but difficult to carry them out. 有時(shí)候作計(jì)劃容易而執(zhí)行計(jì)劃卻很難。
② our plan was carried out successfully. 我們的計(jì)劃勝利地完成。
ⅲ.carry through 的意思是“完成-----，將-----進(jìn)行到底；使（人）戰(zhàn)勝困難，渡過(guò)難關(guān)。如：
① carry the revolution through to the end. 將革命進(jìn)行到底。
② his courage will carry him through. 他的勇氣使他戰(zhàn)勝困難，渡過(guò)難關(guān)。
