all his education added up to no more than one year. 他接受的所有的學校教育只有一年。

（9） not more than表示“至多，不超過”，例如：
lying on the ground was a schoolboy of not more than seventeen.躺在地上的那個男學生最多十七歲。

(3)第二人稱疑問句表示比will 更委婉的“請求”
would you please open the window? would you mind telling me about it?
(4)表示過去的習慣，常與often, frequently, sometimes，for hours等連用。 i would sit for hours, deeply thinking.
(5)用于虛擬語氣，主句中表示定會；條件句中表示“有意” if i had money , i would go abroad.
  if he had been there, he would have helped you.  if you would only try, you could do it.
(6) 與like (to do) , rather 連用表禮貌地請求，建議或意愿 （would like 用于一，二，三人稱，should like 只用于第一人稱） i would (should ) like to see your new car.  i would rather live in the countryside.
