so/such 兩者都可以表示“如此”、“這樣”。so是副詞，用來修飾形容詞或副詞；such是形容詞，用來修飾名詞，如果修飾單數可數名詞（名詞前常有形容詞修飾），其后需加不定冠詞a或an，即把不定冠詞置于such的后面，形容詞的前面。
例如：he writes so well.他字寫得這么好。
he told us such a funny story.他給我們講了一個很有趣的故事。
另外，當名詞前有many，much，few，little等詞修飾時，用so，不用such；當單數可數名詞前有形容詞修飾時，也可以用so，但要調整冠詞的位置，即冠詞置于形容詞之后，單數可數名詞前。例如：
they made so much noise，our teacher got angry.他們吵得這么歷害，老師生氣了。
it's so cold a day to day.（＝it's such a cold day today.）今天是這么寒冷的一天。
so as to; in order to; so…as to so as to與in order to二者均表示“以便；為了”，后接動詞不定式作目的狀語，可以換用；但so as to引導的目的狀語不能置于句首，而in order to則可以。如： he stopped working in order to/so as to take a rest.他停止工作以便休息。 in order to make a living, he had to work day and night.為了謀生，他不得不日夜工作。 “so＋形容詞/副詞＋as to”的意思是“如此的……以致于”，引導表示結果的狀語。如： he ran so fast as to get a pain in his side.他跑得太快，結果導致腹側疼痛。
sometimes/sometime/some time sometimes是個頻度副詞，意為“有時”，表示動作發生的不經常性，常與一般現在時或一般過去時連用。如：
sometimes i have lunch at school.有時我在學校吃午飯。
sometime是個副詞，意為“某時”，指時間上不確定的某一點，常用于過去時或將來時。如：
i saw him sometime in july.七月有一天我曾見到過他。
some time是個名詞短語，意思是“一段時間”，在句中常與for，take等詞連用。如：
i'll stay here for some time. 我將在這兒呆一段時間。
sow；plant；grow
sow意為“播、撒、播種、種”，其后跟（the）seeds或“植物（結成種狀的）”。如：
it’s time to sow wheat now. 現在該種小麥了。
don’t sow the seeds of hatred. 請不要撒下仇恨的種子。（比喻用法）
plant意為“栽、插、移植”，其后跟作物（多為苗狀的）。如：
he plants rice fastest in the village. 他在那個村子里插秧的速度最快。
the garden was planted with chinese roses. 園子里栽上了月季。
grow作及物動詞時，意為“種植、培植”，后接賓語（不表明種狀還是苗狀，強調種植后的栽培及管理過程）；作不及物動詞時，意為“生長、發育”；作系動詞時，意為“變得”。如：
they can only grow potatoes in the fields. 他們只能在地里種土豆。
