2. show the pupils the birthday card. ask the pupils what’s this? write birthday card on the board. show the pupils the invitation. say it’s jenny’s birthday. jenny is having a party. write the word party on the board. show the invitation again and say this is an invitation.
3. tell the pupils: let’s plan jenny’s birthday party. ask them when is jenny’s party? read the invitation card and write the date on the board. say it’s on (name of day) at (time).
4. ask them what do you want to eat? write on the board what do you want to eat? repeat for what do you want to drink?
5. take out some of food and drinks from the bag. ask the pupils what do you want to eat? and what do you want to drink? point to the food or drinks and encourage them to chorus their answer.
6. ask individual pupils to come out and ask me the question. reply and pick up the food or drink.
practice
1. show transparency and play the pupil’s book cassette. the pupils listen and follow in their books. continue to play the cassette and ask the pupils to repeat the words after the beeps.
2. point to the children’s thought bubbles in picture 1 and 2 and tell the pupils tim likes potato chips. he wants to eat potato chips.
3. get five pupils to come out to the front to act the children.
4. tell the pupils to work in groups of five to role-play the children.
play a vocabulary game
show the pupils how to write ‘word steps’. they write a word like banana horizontally, then a word beginning with the last letter of the first word, like apple vertically. in groups, the pupils compare to see who has made the most word steps with food and drink words.

學完b部分后,我讓學生自發組成幾個人一個小組,參照部分的內容和句型就計劃一個生日聚會設計一段對話,并表演出來,有助于他們靈活運用所學句型。

1. point to the characters in the pictures and read their speech bubbles aloud. ask the pupils to point to the speech bubbles as i read them.

4. point to john in picture 6. ask the pupils is john happy now?
5. ask the pupils to come up and play the roles of the four children.
6. use storycards to revise the sequence and language of the story.
