9. because of this, they put on weight very easily. 因此，他們的體重很容易增加。because of 是短語介詞，后面接名詞或代詞，在句中作狀語。如：he didn’t come to school yesterday because of illness. his spoken english is improving because of lots of practice. (注意和because狀語從句的區(qū)別)
10. their diet contains a lot of fat in the form of potato crisps, potato chips, butter, cream and chocolate. 他們的食物有油炸土豆片、油炸土豆條、黃油、奶酪和巧克力，這些食物都含有大量的脂肪。form是“形式”的意思，in the form of 便是“以…形式”。如：the cookies were all in the form of stars. 那些餅干的形狀都像星星。the story is told in the form of a play. 故事是以短劇的形式講述的。
11. in some parts of britain, one person in ten, by the age of thirty, has no teeth left! 在英國的一些地方，1/10的人到30歲時，牙齒就全掉光了！one person in ten是“十個人里有一個”的意思。如：at least eight in ten students are shortsighted. 十個學(xué)生中至少有八個近視。可以用out of代替in，意思一樣：nine out of ten people agreed with me. 有十分之九的人同意我的意見。
12. as a result, many westerners die at an early age from heart illnesses. 結(jié)果，許多西方人因患心臟病而死得很早。die of/die from，“死于...” 。當(dāng)一個人死于內(nèi)因，例如疾病、饑餓等，用die of，如：her grandfather died of cancer. 她的爺爺不幸死于癌癥。若死于外因，例如外傷等，用die from，如：he died from a traffic accident. 他死于一次交通事故。
making suggestions & giving advice
1. advise 的搭配：提建議可用"advise"，注意要用不定式。如：i advise you not to eat fruit that isn't ripe in future. 我勸你今后不要吃不熟的水果。advise 也可接從句（從句中多用should）：the doctor advised that he (should) give up smoking.
2. suggest的搭配：用suggest 提建議也用兩種結(jié)構(gòu)，一是suggest 加名詞或動名詞，一是suggest接從句（從句中多用should）。如：the teacher suggested reading some world famous works. 老師建議讀些世界名著。i suggest you (should) ask mr wu for advice. 我建議你向吳先生求教。

have been to… 意思是“到過…地方”。如：i have been to london many times. / have you ever been there before? 你以前去過那個地方嗎？對比have gone to… 意思是“已到…去了”，如：he has gone to the chemistry lab. ★
first of all，第一，首先。如：first of all i must check the number. 首先我必須檢查那號碼。注意：at first 解釋“開始、起初”：at first he was very shy in school.
allow是“讓，允許”的意思: it is not allowed by law. 法律不允許。由allow組成的句型有: allow sb. to do sth.允許某人做某事；allow doing sth. 允許做某事；allow sb. sth. 允許某人某事。如：my parents won't allow me to stay out late. 我的父母不允許我深夜還不回家。we don't allow smoking in public. 我們不允許在公共場所吸煙。 he allows his son too much money. 他給他兒子太多的錢。★
