5. be fond of … 喜愛
my sister is fond of sweets. 我妹妹喜歡吃糖果。is he fond of collecting stamps? 他喜歡集郵嗎？改錯(cuò)：my fond sport is basketball. （fond 不可作定語(yǔ)，應(yīng)用favorite）
6. die of … 死于…
指由于疾病、饑餓、年老、或感情等原因?qū)е碌乃劳觯纾篽e died of old age. 他壽終正寢。tens of thousands of people died of hunger. 成千上萬的人死于饑餓。die from 一般指因疾病或感情以外的原因引起的死亡。he died from a car accident. 他死于車禍。
7. go bad 變質(zhì)（一般指食物而言）
eggs and milk soon go bad in summer. 夏天，雞蛋、牛奶壞得很快。go用作系動(dòng)詞可以和其他動(dòng)詞連在一起，表示主語(yǔ)由一種狀態(tài)向另一種狀態(tài)轉(zhuǎn)變而這種轉(zhuǎn)變通常是由好的變成壞的，由正常情況變成特殊情況。如：go blind 變瞎；go mad 發(fā)瘋；go sick 惡心；go hungry 挨餓；something goes wrong with my watch . 我的表壞了。
8. keep in touch with … 和…保持聯(lián)系（狀態(tài)）
how do you keep in touch with your friend? 你是如何和你的朋友保持聯(lián)系的？i've kept in touch with mike for over ten years. 我和邁克保持聯(lián)系10多年了。表示動(dòng)作用get in touch with，如：i got in touch with the friend in the middle school as soon as i came back. 我一回來，就跟中學(xué)的朋友取得了聯(lián)系。
9. lead/live a … life 過...的生活
people living in city lead a busy life. 住在城市里的人們過著忙碌的生活. they led a simple life in the countryside. 他們?cè)卩l(xiāng)村過著一種寧?kù)o的生活。
10. play a part in … 在...方面起作用
computers play an important part in our life.電腦在我們的生活中起著重要的作用。li dong played an active part in that football match.李東在那場(chǎng)足球賽中起了積極的作用。
11. all sorts of … 各種各樣的…
she can make all sorts of toys for kids. 她能做各種各樣的兒童玩具。the seas around ireland were full of all sorts of fish. 環(huán)繞愛爾蘭的大海，魚類豐富，品種繁多。
1. generally, the weather in britain is neither too cold in winter nor too hot in summer. 一般來說，不列顛的天氣，冬季既不太冷，夏季也不太熱。
neither…nor…是一個(gè)連詞詞組，用來連接兩個(gè)相同的成分，表示“兩者都不”的意思。如： they neither smoke nor drink.他們既不抽煙也不喝酒。如果連接的是兩個(gè)并列主語(yǔ)時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞必須要和后面的主語(yǔ)一致，如：neither you nor she is wrong. 你和她都沒錯(cuò)。neither you nor i was in yesterday. 你和我昨天都不在家。
2.the larger of the two islands is britain. 兩個(gè)島嶼中較大的一個(gè)是不列顛。
表示兩者間較…時(shí),常用“the + 比較級(jí)+ of the two”來表示,如：tom is the shorter of the twins. tom是這對(duì)雙胞胎中較矮的那個(gè)。 which is the more interesting of the two novels? 這兩本小說哪本更有趣些？
