14. pay off (1) 全部償清（2）給薪解雇
例：you'll have to pay off yor old loan before being allowed a new one. 你必須還清舊債，才能重新貸款。
after all these years, we've at last paid off all our debts. 經過這么多年，我們總算把債還清了。
the crew have been paid off. 船員被發薪遣散。

例：are you positive about (of)it?你對那件事有把握嗎？
i'm positive that this man stole the car. 我確信這個男人偷了那部車。
one must be positive, but not too positive. 一個人必須有自信，但不可過分自信。
