此外，no matter一般不單獨使用，可以用在it's no matter (it makes no matter)+從句這種句型中表示“無關緊要”，如：

[問]這句中定語從句的謂語動詞能用單數嗎？
[答]不能。關系代詞who、which、that本身沒有數的變化，它們作主語時，從句中的謂語動詞應與先行詞的數保持一致、有時需根據具體情況而定，試比較：
look at the woman with two children who is sitting under the tree. 看那個坐在樹下的婦女，她和兩個孩子在一起。
look at the woman with two children who playing under the tree.
看那個婦女，她和正在樹下玩的兩個 孩子在一起。
但是當先行詞是“one of + 復數名詞”時，顯然其重心在名詞上，因此從句中的謂語用復數；當先行詞是“the only one of + 復數名詞”，時，其重心是the only one,因而謂語動詞用單數，如：
he is oen of the teachers who know russian well. 他是懂俄語的老師之一。
he is the only one of the teachers who knows russion well.他是（老師中唯一懂俄語的一位老師。

she was the only one of the girls who was late for the meeting. 她是開會遲到的唯一的女孩。

[問]與spend搭配的介詞on可以省略嗎？
[答]不能省略。當我們要表達“花時間做某事”時可用兩種句型：spend ...on sth. 和spend ...(in)doing sth. 后接-ing形式時可省掉介詞in。如：
don't spend any more time on that problem. 別在那個問題上再花時間了。
every spare minute he gets is spent on the car. 他業余的每一分鐘都花在擺弄那輛車上。
she spent her evenings (in) washing the windows and floors. 她利用晚上的時間清洗窗子和地面。
he spends his whole life (in) looking after the poor. 他用畢生的精力來照顧窮人。
[辨異]spend指花時間做某事時，其主語往往是人，而take作“花費時間”時，主語通常是物，常用于it take sb. some time to do sth. 這一句型。如：
it took them several hours to set up a tent. 他們花了幾個小時才搭起帳篷。（=they spent several hours in setting up the tent.)
