四、生詞詳解
1. surround surround[se5raund]vi&vt.包圍, 環(huán)繞，圍繞
the fence surrounds the school.籬笆環(huán)繞著學(xué)校。
a wall surrounds the garden.一座墻圍繞著花園。
be surrounded with [by]被...環(huán)繞著, 周圍都是...
2. bay [bei]n.海灣
例：in a small bay big waves will never build up .在小的港灣里,永遠也不會形成大的波濤。
[常用詞組]at bay走頭無路/keep at bay阻止；擋住/bay out(象海灣一樣)伸展
3. harbour[5hb:be]n.(=harbor) 海港
例：the child fled to the harbour of her father's arms. 那孩子逃到父親懷里躲著。
[常用詞組]a natural harbour 天然港 /an open harbour 無遮蔽港口
4. volcano[vcl5keineu]n.火山
例：he nursed this volcano of wrath in his breast. 他滿腔怒火中燒，一觸即發(fā)。
dance on a volcano在火山上跳舞, 大難將至猶自取樂
sit on a volcano坐在火山頂上, 處境危險
active volcano活火山/dormant volcano休眠火山/extinct volcano死火山

例：the spring has run down.鐘表發(fā)條走完了。
