般要接一個時間。help在這里表示“起作用、生效”。

[答案與解析]b 根據全句的意思“如果我們生活在其

【考點7】improve 的用法
▲構詞：improvement n. 提高，改進；改良；增進
▲搭配：
① improve in sth 在某方面好轉
② improve on 對……作出改進；比……有了改進
③ improve oneself in sth 在某方面有進步
④ make an improvement in 在某方面作改進
▲句型：
① there be an improvement in... 在某方面有進步/好
轉
② there is still room for improvement. 仍有改進的余地

【考點1】likely的用法
▲句型：
① be likely to do sth 可能
② it's likely that / (for sb) to do sth... 可能
▲辨析：likely；maybe; perhaps；possibly；probably
該組副詞都可表示“可能地”。但美國人多用maybe，英
國人多用perhaps，表示“也許”，多用于口語。probably
意為“很可能地、大概地”，等于likely。但likely比
probably語氣強，而且likely還可以作形容詞，用于be
likely to do和be likely that clause句型中，而probably
